All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement issued during booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your obligations for the rental. In any case of discrepancy between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Bridport, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type, with extra charges for those under 25. A valid driving licence appropriate for the chosen vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Identification and proof of current address must be provided, along with valid payment details and a security deposit. Any additional conditions specified in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations for our car hire services can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Bridport office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as received; refueling fees will be applied if the fuel level is lower. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All car rentals in Bridport come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts are outlined in your Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to help mitigate your financial responsibility. Please review these options carefully, as you will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless otherwise covered. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains with you, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional fees.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- Prohibited activities include any illegal use of the vehicle, such as racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting, or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using the vehicle for unintended purposes, or exceeding passenger and weight limits is strictly prohibited. Additionally, operating the vehicle outside the agreed geographical limits requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bridport is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively by the courts in this jurisdiction.
